Collage and paint

The “poulpes” are the most recent abstract collages. They are inspired by the poem Océan de Terre by the French surrealist poet Guillaume Apollinaire. “Poulpes”(from the poem) is the French word for octopi, which informs the compositions and colors of the pieces. The collages are a combination of images and text from art magazines, custom laser-printed text and images, nautical charts, and paint.

Sculpture

The “poulpes” and tree forms were extended into three dimensional space using wood moldings, tree limbs, furniture parts, books, wax and paint.

Tree series collages with paint

The Tree Series is an ongoing body of work that has compositions loosely based on the abstracted silhouette of a tree. The compositions use a matrix of vertical and horizontal “lines” appropriated from 20th century modernism to define the structure. Media include collage from art magazines, custom printed material, thrift store t-shirts and leisure shirts, and paint. Please contact me for availability and pricing.
